Two CLT Alliance Young Professionals awarded 40 Under 40

With hundreds of people moving into the Charlotte metro every week, the region’s workforce is growing rapidly. Many of those flocking to the area are young professionals, who bring their energy and talent to the companies they work for as well as the community at large.

Each year, the Charlotte Business Journal aims to introduce some of these rising stars through the 40 Under 40 awards program. Now in its 29th year, this signature awards program turns a spotlight on 40 individuals — all under the age of 40 — who are making a difference in the region.

This year’s class of honorees on the prestigious list includes two members of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance® Young Professionals. Olufemi Lamikanra is a private banker at Fifth Third Bank; Kristerpher Smith is the vice president, middle market, at JP Morgan Chase & Co. and serves as board chair of the YPs.

“I am humbly honored to be recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal as a 40 under 40 honoree,” Lamikanra said. “I am truly grateful for the mentors and leaders that have guided me throughout the beginning of my career.  I look forward to connecting with the other amazing young professionals that were honored!”

Smith agreed: “It is an honor to be acknowledged by the Charlotte Business Journal among a list of esteemed leaders in the Charlotte Region. I am especially thankful to those who entrusted me with a nomination.”

Winners will be celebrated during an awards event on May 19 at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte in uptown.

They’ll also be featured in a CBJ special report due out May 20, giving readers a glimpse into their backgrounds, motivations and personal lives.
