Women’s Impact Day | Inspire, lead, succeed

On August 2nd, the Carolinas Branch of Equitable Advisors, led by executive vice president Amy Schlager, held their inaugural Women’s Impact Day, a dedicated event centered around the women’s community. The event focused on providing information and empowerment for women at every stage of life. The event featured three interactive and dynamic sessions: “The World is Yours,” “Your Seat at the Table,” and “Women’s Financial Empowerment.” Each session aimed to inspire and equip women and girls with the tools to overcome challenges, attain success, and progress in both personal and professional spheres.

During “The World Is Yours” panel discussion, company leaders Stephanie Withers and Amy Schlager, along with community figures Ohavia Phillips (media personality), Solange Tricanowicz (director of corporate engagement at UNC Charlotte), and Ebony Scott (president of Dream Girls University), engaged high school students in discussions about authenticity, leadership, and preparing for success in and beyond school.

“Your Seat at the Table” was a panel discussion moderated by Elma Lloyd, head of sales and advisor enablement for group retirement at Equitable. Panelists included Cynthia Bodison (head of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Equitable), Amy Schlager, and Janet LaBar (president and CEO of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance). The panelists shared invaluable wisdom on leadership for women, inspiring attendees to amplify their voices and skills to reach new heights in their personal and professional journeys.

The “Women’s Financial Empowerment” session featured an interactive presentation by two Equitable leaders: Jazmin Williams, vice president, and Paige Kilburn, financial professional. The presentation focused on providing financial information tailored specifically to women. Williams and Kilburn guided the audience through understanding their emotional relationship with money, offering practical advice to take control of their financial plans, and empowering them to take actionable steps.

As the event concluded, participants were gifted “Smart Women Love Money” by Alice Finn, along with a Starbucks gift card. Amy and the Carolinas Branch encouraged both high school students and attendees to connect with others and foster relationships over a cup of coffee on us, emphasizing the strength in unity.

A special acknowledgment was extended to the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance for graciously hosting the event in their beautiful space.
