Power of Women returns with powerhouse program

From leadership to pay equity, growth barriers to bias, a powerhouse panel of women will open up in a candid conversation about some of the most important topics facing women in the workplace today.

The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance’s Power of Women program is returning Sept. 15, convening some of the top-ranking female executives in the Charlotte Region for a conversation over lunch at the Hilton University.

The panel includes Kristi Coleman, president, Carolina Panthers; Vonda Huss, EVP, CHRO, Brighthouse Financial; Julie Janson, executive vice president and chief executive officer, Duke Energy Carolinas; and April Whitlock, head of corporate citizenship, LendingTree.

Coleman looks forward to discussing the importance of diversity in leadership.

“I believe the best leaders are collaborators and the best way to collaborate is through gaining exposure to a variety of perspectives,” she said. “That’s what makes diversity in leadership so incredibly important – the variety of perspectives and different points of view. Having women in leadership roles helps provide those perspectives and also shows other women aspiring for leadership roles that anything is possible with hard work and talent.”

The Power of Women series and network platform is designed to engage, inform, inspire and connect professional women to resourceful women’s groups and organizations in the Charlotte Region. The CLT Alliance works to provide opportunities to cultivate and build strong professional bonds among impressive women through useful programs and mentoring opportunities with women at various stages in their careers.

“Women are strong communicators and bridge builders,” Whitlock said. “As more and more companies recognize the importance of culture in the workplace, women leaders are needed more than ever to foster relationships and create the community that establishes core corporate values.”

The Power of Women conversation will take place Sept. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hilton University on J.M. Keynes Dr. To register for an event you won’t want to miss, click here.
