Leading homebuilder adds 260 new jobs in $34M expansion

NVR, Inc., a leading homebuilder, will create 261 new jobs in an expansion in Cleveland and Cumberland counties. The company will invest $33.9 to expand its capacity in Kings Mountain and build a new facility in Fayetteville.

NVR has had a presence in Kings Mountain-Cleveland County since 2002, where they currently employ 230 people, and construct an average of 60 homes per week. The project represents the creation of 58 new jobs, and a new capital investment of $5.2 million in that community.

“We would like to extend warm congratulations to NVR on their recent expansion project,” Kevin Gordon, chair of Cleveland County Board of Commissioners, said. When an existing industry chooses to expand their operations in our community, I consider it to be one of the highest compliments that our community can receive. We are so grateful to the company that they have chosen us once again.

“Cleveland County has an incredible value proposition for manufacturers, and that’s why they continue to choose us,” Johnny Hutchins, economic development liaison for the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners, said. “However, beyond our community’s great location and skilled workforce, it is the unparalleled, collaborative support from our local government partners that really sets us apart from other communities. We are very excited that NVR will be creating new jobs in our community, and we look forward to supporting their future growth.”

Headquartered in Virginia, NVR sells and constructs homes under the brands of Ryan Homes, NVHomes, and Heartland Homes in 15 states. Ryan Homes is on the Charlotte Business Journal’s list of most active homebuilders in Mecklenburg County. NVR, a Fortune 500 company, also operates a mortgage division.

To land the project, the state’s Economic Investment Committee approved a deal that would provide a total incentives package worth more than $3.6 million to the company over a 12-year period, should job creation and investment targets be met.

Salaries for the new positions will vary, but the average annual salary is $46,510, which is above the average in Cleveland and Cumberland counties. The project could create a potential annual payroll impact of more than $12.8 million per year.
