Company to invest $93M, add quarry in Chester County

A company with a presence in South Carolina will create dozens of jobs with the expansion of its quarry operations in Chester County.

Luck Companies provides crushed stone aggregates and environmental performance products. The company is adding new quarry sites in four South Carolina counties, including Chester County. Chester County Economic Development shared the news on Tuesday.

The move increases Luck Companies’ investment in Chester County to $93 million and the new site will add 25 jobs.

The site will include a quarry and will have a multi-use economic development portion. It will also have acreage dedicated to agricultural education.

Luck Companies is making a combined investment of $450 million in South Carolina as it adds new sites and expands its existing operations across the state. That investment will also create 70 new jobs.

“Luck Companies’ commitment to invest $93 million in Chester County represents an increase of $57.9 million over their original plans,” Chester County Economic Development Director Robert Long said in a statement. “I am most excited about their plans to develop a 75-acre business park, plus set aside another 15 acres for future economic development use. This will support the development of small and mid-size industrial and commercial buildings that are greatly needed in our growing community.”

Luck Companies works with customers in the construction, civil engineering and environmental industries.

“Our growth strategy is about expanding the reach of our people-focused mission,” Luck Companies Chief Growth Officer Joe Carnahan said in a statement. “We believe in creating opportunities for our associates, and for those in the community. Our goal is to have a positive impact across the new communities we’re joining, including the counties of Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Kershaw, Saluda and Spartanburg.”
