53 Emerging Business Leaders graduate from CLT Alliance signature program

What is leadership? Webster’s dictionary defines it as “the office or position of a leader, the capacity to lead, and the act or instance of leading.” Kevin Kruse, a contributor to Forbes says that “leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal.” No matter the definition, the CLT Alliance is proud to host the Emerging Business Leaders program for the Charlotte Region. This talent development program is designed to enhance the leadership capability of high-potential, diverse professionals who will ultimately create a competitive advantage for Charlotte’s workforce and economy.

Over the past seven months, the 11th EBL cohort has been challenged and motivated to go outside their comfort zone and take their leadership skills to the next level. They’ve confronted tough topics such as polarity management, ethical leadership, leading through crisis, navigating diversity and inclusion to become a more culturally competent leader and so much more. And now, at the end of the program, cohort members are more competent and self-aware in terms of managing their careers and maximizing their value and overall contributions to their organizations.

Last week, EBL Class 11th concluded their leadership journey with the CLT Alliance with a graduation ceremony and celebratory reception. Michael Marsicano, former president & CEO of the Foundation For The Carolinas and CLT Alliance 2022 Citizen of the Carolinas provided the keynote remarks. Marsicano inspired the cohort by sharing his top 10 tips for successful leaders. Included in these tips were know your weaknesses, lead by example, and champion and value risk takers. Marsicano shared that trust and reciprocity of trust are the foundation of all else. “Change runs at the speed of trust” so as a leader you must both give and receive trust to excel. He challenged the cohort to ask themselves: “what leadership shadow am I casting?” and put in the very hard work to make that a shadow to be proud of.

Congratulations to the 11th Class of the CLT Alliance’s Emerging Business Leaders program.  Although your leadership journey with the CLT Alliance has come to an end, we challenge you to continue your commitment to leadership excellence and look forward to your future accomplishments. The future of the Charlotte Region is in good hands with this group of passionate, talented and dedicated leaders.
