I’m Solange Tricanowicz, and I am thrilled to serve as the Chair of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance Young Professionals Board for 2023. I’ve built my career around connecting people, ideas, and opportunities and Charlotte has been the perfect place to do just that.
In my 9-5, I work as the director of corporate engagement at UNC Charlotte, North Carolina’s Urban Research University. In this role, I connect the business community to our campus community, whether that’s faculty, research, talent development programs, or mostly importantly, our talented students. I have a deep admiration and respect for learners of all ages, but the curiosity, energy, and passion that young adults bring to a community is so contagious and so inspiring! It’s no wonder why I’ve spent nearly all of my career in higher education and involved with young professionals.
I often feel that same curiosity, energy, and passion in the Charlotte community. This region continues to dream, evolve, quite frankly, do the work. I moved to Charlotte seven years ago and it didn’t take long to feel like home. What I love most is that I can be a part of my community’s evolution. From the dozens of cranes in the sky, great food scene, interactive art festivals (Charlotte Shout, I love you), strong and diverse business community and exciting sports/entertainment options (Charlotte FC forever!), there are constant reminders of why I chose to build my life in Charlotte. There have been challenges, to be sure. It would be weird if there weren’t. But that’s part of the reason why I love it here. There’s more to be done and more ways for me to show up as a leader to serve and build my community.
That’s a big reason why I engage so deeply with the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance. From the C-suite executives to the early talent in their first professional job, this organization brings together those who see a brighter future for the Charlotte region and who want to do the work.
Charlotte is full of bright and talented people who are deeply invested in this community. Charlotteans are my people. And for me, home is where your people are.
