Hello everyone, my name is Nick Randone, and I joined the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance YP Board of Directors in January 2023. In my current profession, I am a senior content strategist at Sealed Air Corporation. I’m sure you’re probably thinking one of two things (or both): What is a content strategist? And, what kind of company is Sealed Air?
Content strategy is a business practice of planning, governing, and managing content based on user-driven insights to achieve business objectives. In even simpler terms, my team and I manage our global website and e-commerce platform. My company, Sealed Air, is a packaging manufacturer, and the original inventor of BUBBLE WRAP® brand packaging. Yes, that’s right – the bubble packaging we all know and love. But what does this have to do with Charlotte and my experiences here? Well, let’s dive in for a quick story.
Growing up, I was always the nerdy and introverted kid that never spoke to anyone. This is interesting given the fact that, as an adult, I am highly extroverted and have a successful career in a very public industry. After graduating high school, I chose to attend college at Western Carolina University as an engineering student where one day I discovered a hidden trait – I love people. Not only did I realize that I love people, but I discovered I have a natural ability with writing, public speaking, and leadership. This is not meant to sound cocky or arrogant in any way, but it’s something I had never realized about myself until that time. Using my newfound talents, I decided to change my major from computer engineering to public relations & marketing. You can imagine what a shock this was to my parents, but it proved to be one of the best decisions of my life because I found my true calling.
Fast forward a few years to 2014 when I moved to Charlotte in pursuit of new career opportunities and the urban lifestyle it so casually offered. Since that time, I have taken on five different roles across three different companies and learned more about myself than I ever thought possible. Charlotte has such a special place in my heart not only because it is where I began to prosper as a young professional, but also because it is a quintessential southern city with a modern flare that has so much to offer to all lifestyles and backgrounds. The number of corporations, businesses, and industries that have operations in Charlotte is impressive – and that number is growing daily.
No matter what you are looking for, Charlotte has it all. Quite possibly the best part of living here, though, is the people. The people of Charlotte are unique, kind, intelligent, and eager to take advantage of opportunities that come their way. But most of all – we are dedicated to making the Queen City the best that it can be for everyone. That, my friends, is just one of many reasons why I love calling Charlotte home – and it’s why you will too.
