Spotlight on: Emerging Business Leader Dalton Grigston

I would sum up the meeting with PWC in two words: “Eye-Opening.” I had the pleasure of listening to PWC present topics on the Art of Board Leadership.

Viewing PWC’s presentation through the lens of the headhunting industry, I considered its relevance to board interviews. As part of Charlotte’s Largest Executive Search firm, specializing in placing C-Suite candidates, we constantly prepare profiles for board interviews. At Search Solution Group, it’s crucial that we invest extra time in preparing executive candidates for high-level expectations, complex questions, pressure, scrutiny, depth of experience, alignment with strategic goals, and board dynamics. PWC not only reinforced our agency’s preparation process for executive candidates but also emphasized the importance of leaders being aware of trends organizations face, ranging from digital transformation to cybersecurity.

The presentation helped me gain a better perspective on the obligations and influences surrounding the boardroom. When you consider the common challenges and risks organizations face, it can be quite intimidating. Making the right decisions and aligning the company’s mission statement with the topic at hand requires expert-level critical thinking.

This topic brought my past meetings with Emerging Business Leaders full circle. Jumping into board meetings initially can be overwhelming, but by staying true to your leadership values and being attuned to your audience (stakeholders, investors, media, customers, and employees), public complexities become more manageable as you build rapport and establish trust through transparent communication and strategic decision-making.
