The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance® Young Professionals organized an insightful fireside chat featuring CLT Alliance Chair and Ally Financial Business Administration Executive Ali Summerville.
The engaging discussion covered key themes such as mentorship, the significance of values, and strategies for young professionals to achieve success. Moderated by Abbey Rampy of Gensler, who also serves as the CLT Alliance Young Professionals chair, the conversation delved into valuable lessons for professional growth and leadership.
“Values are non-negotiable,” Summerville said.
Drawing from her role as a mentor, Summerville shared practical recommendations on cultivating a strong mentorship within one’s career. Summerville stressed the importance of trust and organic relationships, highlighting their pivotal role in a successful and healthy mentorship.
Aligning personal values with those of the company is essential, and leaders must consistently reinforce these values, Summerville said.
The topic of leadership was eagerly discussed by the young professionals, with Summerville bringing nearly 14 years of experience at Ally Financial.
Summerville expanded on the human aspect of leadership, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the well-being of employees and clients. Summerville encouraged the group to invest time in building interpersonal relationships, maintain credibility, show up and be present, and practice giving and receiving grace.
