Castrodale, Underwood honored by NC Economic Development Association

Two professionals from the Charlotte Region were recognized by the North Carolina Economic Development Association for their outstanding contributions to economic development in the state.

These awards celebrate professionals across North Carolina whose dedication and achievements drive economic prosperity across our communities. The 2024 recipients were recognized at the annual conference in June.

Elizabeth Underwood, the director of economic development for Stanly County, was named the 2024 Emerging Leader of the Year.

 This award recognizes an NCEDA member emerging leader who is making significant and measurable contributions to their local community and the North Carolina economic development community as a whole. The nominee demonstrates leadership, excellence, creativity and show initiative with work-related professional accomplishments.

“I am honored and grateful for receiving this award,” Underwood said. “This has been an impactful season on my life in both my roles at Lake Norman Economic Development and as Chair for NCEDA’s Emerging Executives. I look forward to continuing these innovative efforts in my new role with Stanly County, championing what it means to be an Emerging Leader and community advocate.”

Page Castrodale, executive director of Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation, was one of two people named the 2024 Economic Developer of the Year.
