A local 3D printer startup has opened a new global headquarters in Charlotte to help advance its manufacturing technology portfolio, Charlotte Inno reported.
Axtra3D’s headquarters is off Tyvola Road in Charlotte. It held a ribbon-cutting event for the space on Oct. 9 attended by the company’s board of advisors, board of directors and partners, among others. The office features a 3D printing lab, warehouse, collaborative working spaces and conference rooms. An investment cost was not disclosed.
“Our investment in establishing Axtra3D’s global headquarters exemplifies our unwavering dedication to our valued customers in the United States,” Gianni Zitelli, founder and CEO of Axtra3D, said in a statement. “With the inauguration of this state-of-the-art facility, we are poised to redefine the customer service experience by maintaining a comprehensive inventory of our cutting-edge Lumia X1 printers, an extensive selection of print materials, essential accessories and spare parts.”
The company’s headquarters debut comes after Axtra3D closed on a $6.25 million Series A funding round in November 2022. It used that capital to scale production of its 3D printing machines and to complete a broad market entry of its first product, the Lumia X1 3D printer.
The printer combines stereolithography and digital light processing. Customers previously could only choose one of those processes. Axtra3D credits its Hybrid PhotoSynthesis technology for the printer’s speed, high-resolution, print area and surface quality.
Axtra3D previously said it envisions the Lumia X1 printer to be beneficial in industries such as aerospace, medical and dental care, consumer goods and automotive.
The startup, founded in 2021, also has a second operating site for its subsidiary in Vicenza, Italy. Axtra3D said that space and the Charlotte headquarters are located near key customers.
“Our brand-new global headquarters is not merely a physical space; it stands as a tangible manifestation of our remarkable journey and boundless growth,” Praveen Tummala, chief operating officer at Axtra3D, said in a statement.
