What information do we collect?

We collect information from you when you join the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance®, register online for our events, purchase products from our online store, subscribe to any of our email newsletters via our Preference Center or charlotteregion.com, submit a comment on any of our articles/blogs, or fill out the Contact Us or Investor Calendar forms.

When doing any of the above, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information or business name. You may, however, visit our site anonymously.

When you complete a financial transaction online with us using a credit card, we store the following in our database: your name, date of payment, PayPal™ authorization and cancellation codes, transaction’s reference number, type of payment, the last four digits of the credit card, the credit card expiration date, the cardholder name, billing address and shipping address. We DO NOT store the CVV number for credit cards.

What do we use your information for?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  • Listing in our online investor directory. If you are a current Charlotte Regional Business Alliance investor, your company name, address, phone number, fax number and Web site are listed in our online investor directory. Other investors may purchase mailing or phone lists. If you prefer not to have this information available, contact us at 704-378-1300 or submit your request to alliance@charlotteregion.com.
  • Processing financial transactions and fulfilling requests submitted via forms. Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product or service requested.
  • Adding you to our newsletter distribution list. The email address you provide for order processing is entered in our database and added to our newsletter distribution. If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email. You can also visit www.charlotteregion.com/opt-in to manage your subscriptions.

How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information.

We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our database to be only accessed by those authorized with special access rights to our systems, and who are required to keep the information confidential. However, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure. Although we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information that you send to us, and you do so at your own risk. After a transaction, your private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers.

Your privacy is important to us, but due to the existing legal regulatory and security environment, the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance® cannot guarantee that your private communications and other personally identifiable information will not be disclosed to third parties. Under certain circumstances, the government or third parties may intercept or access transmissions or private communications. Additionally, in the unlikely event the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance needs to investigate or resolve possible problems or inquiries, it can disclose any information about you to private entities, law enforcement, or other government officials as the CLT Alliance, in its sole discretion, believes necessary or appropriate, or to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance®.

Do we use cookies?

Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and reinvestor certain information.

We use cookies to help us reinvestor and process the items in your shopping cart when you are registering for events or purchasing products in our online store.

If you prefer, you can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies via your browser settings. Like most websites, if you turn your cookies off, some of our services may not function properly. However, you can still place orders over the telephone.

Is my information or investor account password protected?

Yes. You will be provided with an initial password to access your investor account, which you may change as you see fit. You should not disclose your password or share it with any third parties. If you lose control of your password, you may lose control over your account information, and you will be responsible for any legally binding actions taken on your behalf. Therefore, if your password is compromised for any reason, you should immediately notify us so we may issue you a new password. Ultimately, you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your password(s).

What happens if I change my information provided to the CLT Alliance?

Upon logging in to the CLT Alliance website as a investor, you have the option to correct, update or delete any information previously provided to us; however, we will maintain copies of user information to the extent retained as part of our website’s standard backup/archive process. In addition, these procedures will not remove such of your information that has been provided by you to, or collected from you by, the websites of our business partners. We are not responsible for ensuring the removal or deletion from the websites of our business partners of your information provided by us to our business partners as permitted by you.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your e-mail address or financial information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses. As mentioned above, Charlotte Regional Business Alliance investor company contact information is available (not including email) in our online investor directory and in lists purchased by other investors.

Is my information protected on sites linked to the CLT Alliance website?

No. The CLT Alliance site often contains links to other websites. The CLT Alliance cannot be responsible for their content or for private information that you may choose to share with them. The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance® encourages you to investigate and ask questions before disclosing personal information to third parties on any website.
