Tracy Dodson named COO, will lead economic development for Charlotte Regional Business Alliance

The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance announced Tracy Dodson will join the organization as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Economic Development in early February. In her new role, Dodson will oversee economic development, research, marketing, communications, business development, and investor relations for the organization.

A 20-year industry vet, Dodson brings a wealth of experience in economic development and real estate across North and South Carolina. In her current role as assistant city manager and economic development director for the City of Charlotte, Dodson utilizes proven business insights and strategies to champion economic expansion, workforce development, and upward mobility initiatives.

Notable successes under Dodson’s leadership include the relocation of Honeywell’s headquarters to Charlotte, along with significant expansions by companies like LendingTree, AvidXchange, and Lowe’s, which collectively brought thousands of jobs to the region. Her ability to foster strong partnerships on the local, county, regional, and state levels has been a driving force in advancing Charlotte’s economic prosperity.

“Tracy will be a game changer for the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance,” Andrea Smith, interim president and CEO of the CLT Alliance, said. “Her impressive track record in economic development and her deep understanding of the region’s strengths and opportunities make her the perfect fit to lead our team and ensure our region remains competitive.”

Dodson’s career also includes leadership roles at Lincoln-Harris and Charlotte Center City Partners. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a master’s degree in real estate and urban development from Harvard University.

“I’m very excited to be joining Andrea and the CLT Alliance team in February,” Dodson said. “The opportunity allows me to expand my work to a regional platform while continuing to do so much of what I’ve enjoyed doing with economic development in our community.”
