Plastics manufacturer adds new facility, jobs in Gaston County

Sibo Group is the newest global manufacturing firm to announce plans to invest in Gaston County. The plastics manufacturer plans to invest $10 million in a facility on a 6.2-acre site in the Gastonia Technology Park, Gaston County EDC announced.

Sibo has more than 400 employees globally and is a premiere producer of plastic packaging solutions for tubes, containers, and jars for world-known cosmetics and oral care brands.

Sibo plans to hire 20-25 employees in the next three or four years. Company leaders anticipate beginning construction on their new site later this year.

“We are excited that Sibo is coming to Gastonia as another technology partner,” Mayor Walker E. Reid said. “This company joins a host of others who are choosing our city to take advantage of the excellent economic climate and support resources to help them now and in the future.”

Sibo has been supplying companies in the United States for a decade, but only recently began producing their products here.

“On behalf of the Gaston County Economic Development Board, I want to extend our sincere appreciation to Sibo for announcing their newest location in the Gastonia Technology Park. We are very grateful for their investment in our community and look forward to seeing their success in Gaston County,” Chair Julie Roper said.

The announcement comes on the heels of a series of economic development wins in Gaston County over the past three months. In Q2 2022, Gaston County led the region in announced capital investment activity with 386 jobs and $132 million in announced investment. Gastonia Technology Park and Apple Creek Corporate Center are home to many of those manufacturing victories.
