CLT Alliance celebrates Economic Development Week

This week, economic development is in the spotlight, as the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance® joins hundreds of partners across the country in recognizing Economic Development Week.

From May 6-10, communities across North America are celebrating and recognizing the contributions made by professional economic developers to create more vibrant and livable communities.

As the voice of business, the CLT Alliance is proud to highlight the collective successes of the dedicated professionals who are advancing the Charlotte Region as the nation’s most vibrant, innovative, and healthy economy for all.

“Over the last several weeks the CLT Alliance has been convening public and private partners to discuss how to maximize the CLT Alliance impact in regional economic development,” Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Rob Horton said. “The result of the sessions is a clear framework for growth and near-term initiatives that will result in a stronger economic development ecosystem for our region.”

In addition, the Select CLT business recruitment team at the CLT Alliance is actively working a number of projects and will host several site visits this month as part of their efforts to advance economic development in the region.

Created in 2016 by International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the largest international professional trade association for economic developers, Economic Development Week aims to increase awareness for local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.

In just a few years, Economic Development Week has become one of the most widely recognized events of its kind, validating the often unheralded work of the profession, and generating hours of media coverage and millions of social media impressions for participants.

“As local and regional economies evolve, the role of economic developers and development organizations are crucial in energizing, preparing, and promoting local economic growth,” IEDC President & CEO Nathan Ohle said during Economic Development Week in 2023. “I hope communities everywhere will join us in celebrating the accomplishments and important work economic developers perform in their communities year-round.”
