Charlotte ranked in top 10 strongest labor markets in the U.S.

Charlotte is home to one of the nation’s hottest job markets, according to a new ranking from The Wall Street Journal. The news outlet ranked Charlotte No. 8 on its large metro list.

The rankings are based on five factors: unemployment rate, labor-force participation rate, changes to employment levels, the size of the labor force, and wages in 2022. The Wall Street Journal based its rankings on Moody’s Analytics analysis of Labor Department data. It ranked larger metros, with more than one million residents, separately from smaller metros.

While Charlotte ranked eighth overall, it ranked second in ‘change in average weekly wages’ and sixth in ‘change in labor force size.’ You can see the full list of rankings from The Wall Street Journal here.
