Be the next Emerging Business Leader

Applications are now being accepted for Class 11 of one of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance’s signature programs.

Emerging Business Leaders (EBL) is a talent development program designed to enhance the leadership capability of high-potential, diverse professionals who will ultimately create competitive advantages for Charlotte’s workforce and economy.

Over the course of seven months, EBL facilitates relationship building across companies and industries, and provides opportunities for participants to increase their engagement with the CLT Alliance. EBL serves as a valuable supplement to a company’s leadership development, engagement, and retention efforts. Diversity, equity and inclusion are top priorities for the program. An expressed objective of EBL is to diversify the leadership pipeline in the Charlotte Region’s business community.

EBL is ideal for those whose professional level falls somewhere between the mid level and executive levels in the organization, have been identified for potential leadership promotions, and/or have recently been promoted.

We recommend individuals who meet the following qualifications:

  • Have been in the professional workforce for at least 5 years
  • Have been with your company for at least 18 months
  • Have been identified for current and future leadership opportunities

The program is especially beneficial for those who have not had exposure to similar (internal or external) leadership development programs and/or do not have a graduate-level education.  When considering candidates for EBL, we ask that you take into consideration potential participants from demographics that are underrepresented in your company’s leadership ranks, which may be related to race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability and other dimensions of diversity and inclusion.

EBL participants will have monthly day-long sessions. All Class 11 sessions will be in-person.  Virtual and hybrid options are currently not available. To successfully complete the leadership program, participants will only be allowed to miss one session.

In addition to the monthly sessions, the class will spend one day volunteering for a local nonprofit to be selected by the group.
