- A franchise attendance record for the Charlotte Knights on July 4th
- The United States Men’s National Soccer Team’s first ever game in the City of Charlotte.
- The second straight sellout for the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
- The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s fifth trip to Charlotte and first event since 2018.
- An estimated 200,000 fans attended the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow.

Regional Advantage
The Charlotte Region is also home to a unique advantage for fans when compared with other peer cities. The professional sports teams sit within a mile radius of a walkable downtown. Many cities around the country feature stadiums and arenas spread further apart through their regions. For example, Tampa Bay has its hockey team located in the heart of their downtown area, while its baseball and football teams sit several miles away. Fans, however, in the Charlotte Region don’t have to travel far to see their teams.
What’s Next
Sports in the Charlotte Region is a year-round game. With 2023 headed towards its last quarter, there is still plenty left to look forward to. The Duke Mayo Classic kicks off the college football season on Sept. 2 at Bank of America Stadium. The Carolina Panthers begin their 2023-2024 campaign at home with a Monday night game on Sept. 18. Charlotte FC takes on Inter Miami and Lionel Messi on Oct. 21.
The region is also welcoming a new professional team in 2024. The United States Soccer Super League will feature a Charlotte team in 2024. The team will be the first women’s professional team in the region. The Charlotte Region has plenty to cheer for going forward.
