Spotlight On: Hannah Reich | ‘This is a city that’s evolving in real time’

Hannah Reich

When I think about what it means to be a young professional in Charlotte, the word that comes to mind first is opportunity. Opportunity here feels tangible. It’s built through relationships, shaped by growth, and earned through showing up before you feel fully ready.

Like many young professionals, my leadership journey didn’t begin with a title. It began with curiosity and a willingness to raise my hand. Early in my career, I learned that leadership is less about having all the answers and more about asking the right questions, listening carefully, and being willing to take ownership, especially when the path forward isn’t perfectly defined.

Working in a strategic role within professional sports has reinforced that lesson daily. In an industry that blends performance, business, and community impact, progress depends on collaboration and long‑term vision. The most meaningful wins aren’t always immediate; they’re built through planning, adaptability, and trust. That mindset, balancing big-picture thinking with day‑to‑day execution, has shaped how I approach leadership both professionally and as a Young Professional in the Charlotte region.

Charlotte itself plays a huge role in that growth. This is a city that’s evolving in real time. From major development projects to expanding industry sectors and an influx of talent from across the country, the region is continuously redefining itself. What excites me most is that young professionals don’t have to wait on the sidelines here. We’re invited into the conversation. Our ideas matter, and our perspectives help shape what comes next.

Being involved with the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance and serving on the Young Professionals Board has reinforced how powerful that sense of inclusion can be. It has connected me with leaders who are not only accomplished but genuinely invested in developing the next generation. It has also reminded me that leadership doesn’t always mean being the loudest voice in the room; it often means being the most prepared, the most consistent, or the one willing to bridge connections between people and ideas.

If there’s one piece of advice I’d offer to fellow young professionals, it’s this: don’t underestimate the value of proximity. Proximity to mentors, organizations, and opportunities accelerates growth more than waiting for the “perfect” moment. Say yes to the coffee meeting. Join the board. Speak up even when your voice shakes a little. Those small actions compound over time.

I’ve also learned that leadership as a YP isn’t about doing everything at once. It’s about being intentional, choosing where to invest your time and energy, and understanding that impact often comes from sustained effort, not quick wins. Give yourself permission to learn in public, to adjust course, and to grow alongside the city you’re helping to build.

Charlotte is a place where ambition is welcomed and collaboration is rewarded. I’m proud to be part of a community that believes in developing its young professionals, and I’m excited about the role we can play in shaping the region’s future together.
