Ann Brooks joined the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance after an exhilarating quarter-century in telecommunications infrastructure advocacy. During her time in this field, she learned the fundamentals of government relations while working across the southeastern United States. She is thrilled to represent a broad spectrum of industries at the CLT Alliance, satisfying her unending curiosity.
Before moving to the Queen City in 2014, Ann experienced life in four distinct regions of the country. Now, she can confidently recommend the Charlotte area to everyone. Working closely with the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and dozens of regional jurisdictions, she has been intimately involved in the planning and cross-functional collaborating that makes cities thrive.
As vice president of government affairs for the CLT Alliance, Ann is uniquely qualified to support CLT Alliance members through state and local advocacy, having participated on the Advocacy Committee with her former employer.
“Ann’s ability to build trusted relationships and navigate complex policy issues makes her an invaluable part of our team,” said Matt Panik, chief advocacy officer. “She brings a thoughtful, solution-oriented approach to every challenge, ensuring the voice of the Charlotte Region is heard at every level of government.”
Ann considers herself a nomad of the country rather than a native of any particular state. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Michigan.
The beach is Ann’s happy place, which is likely where she will spend more and more of her time in years to come. Hoping to launch her two teenage daughters into the world in the next four years, she and her husband will enjoy spending more time abroad.
