Approximately 113 people are moving to the Charlotte Region every day. That growth necessitates expansion of services, including water and sewer, electricity, schools and child care, and health care.
The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance® appreciates our partners in the health care space that are rising to meet the demand of our growing region. Providers are offering expanded services and seeking efficiencies for residents.
Novant Health’s proposed expansion via acquisition in Iredell County is an example of providers understanding the needs of residents they serve and offering high quality care to accommodate those needs.
The CLT Alliance is supportive of market participants rising to meet the needs of residents. Therefore, the CLT Alliance supports Novant Health’s pursuit of acquiring two hospitals to provide high quality care for area residents.
The FTC’s characterization of the East Lake Norman area does not accurately reflect how Charlotte area residents move around the region. While there may be a preference by some to only seek services as close to home as possible, Charlotte area residents are quite mobile.
Illustrative of this mobility, nearly 10,000 members of our talented workforce commute from Mecklenburg County to Iredell County daily, with nearly 18,000 going from Iredell to Mecklenburg. Additionally, over 44,000 commuters travel from nearby Cabarrus to Mecklenburg daily. Travel preferences may exist for work, school, or health care, but these preferences can be altered based on changing market circumstances.
Novant Health is taking measures to ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality care is available to a rapidly growing population and employer base north of Charlotte.
We support Novant Health in its endeavor to bring exceptional care, leading-edge innovation, and long-term stability to Lake Norman and Davis Regional Medical Centers.
