2022 Young Professionals board announced

A hybrid in-person and virtual orientation was held last week for the 2022 Charlotte Alliance Young Professionals.

The Charlotte Alliance Young Professionals cultivates a young and diverse workforce as a competitive advantage for the Charlotte Region’s growing economy. The program provides value to young professional employees in the Charlotte Region through leadership growth and professional development, networking and relationship-building opportunities, and connection to civic engagement and community service.

In a fireside chat, CLT Alliance President and CEO Janet LaBar told the group there is “a calling and a purpose” to the work being done, and challenged the young professionals to engage in a meaningful way.

“You care about community and that’s just a baseline that we all share,” LaBar said. “That is a seed I think we can water and grow.”

Over the course of the year, the YPs will hold more than a dozen board meetings, programs and events. The board members agreed that increasing social capital, building meaningful connections, and having impactful experiences will be important to their success.

“The most passion I have in my day to day is the ability to build and nurture sincere and authentic relationships,” board chair Kristerpher Smith said. “We’re all young professionals in this cohort and community. How can we come together and learn from each other, build off each other and make sure we’re curating an environment of success in the city of Charlotte so that in 5, 10, 15 years from now, we live in the city that we all imagine?”
