Reports to: Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Engagement

 

Interfaces with: Staff, investors, including CEOs and other senior leaders, elected officials, and vendors. Be the face of the organization to our investors, companies in the Charlotte Region and event attendees.

 

Objective:

Lead Event Creation and Delivery to Maximize Stakeholder Engagement

Spearhead the planning and execution of events designed to foster educational opportunities, build meaningful connections, and strengthen relationships among participants, sponsors, and investors.

Direct the Engagement Team’s efforts in delivering high-impact, mission-aligned experiences, ensuring consistency with the organization’s strategic goals and brand.

Collaborate on communication strategies, including the creation and distribution of invitations, event-related articles, and social media content to maximize outreach and engagement.

Represent the organization with professionalism and credibility at all events, serving as the face of the organization to internal and external audiences.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Serve as the lead for developing innovative and strategic event concepts — including venue selection, program flow, timing, cost, and scheduling — designed to deliver maximum value and enhance engagement opportunities.
  • Lead key decisions regarding venue selection, contract negotiation, and vendor partnerships to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise the Event Manager and Event Coordinator, collectively managing event finances, including budgeting, check requests, payments, invoicing, and financial reporting.
    • Provide clear direction and day-to-day oversight of the Event Manager and Event Coordinator, ensuring timely execution of all responsibilities.
    • Develop and implement standardized workflows and best practices to ensure consistent, effective, and mission-focused delivery of all events and the event’s team.
  • Oversee comprehensive event logistics for programs ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale productions, ensuring sponsor ROI, seamless execution, and attendee satisfaction.
    • Collaborate with external stakeholders including speakers, investors, volunteers, and vendors to create value, foster involvement, and build lasting relationships.
    • Evaluate new and existing programs through a strategic and analytical lens to determine return on investment (ROI) in terms of attendee experience, seamless event execution, revenue generation, and strategic alignment, with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Maintain and manage the organization’s master calendar and key dates listing to ensure cohesive and comprehensive scheduling of all programming and
  • Create, edit, and oversee high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content for various channels to maximize reach and impact and future amplify our engagements and events, including press releases, newsletters, social media, blogs, reports, and website updates.
    • Collaborate with leadership, program staff, and external partners to gather content, ensure message alignment, and maximize reach and impact.
    • Assist in the execution of strategic communications campaigns in support of events, public engagement, or advocacy efforts.
    • Uphold and reinforce the organization’s brand identity across all communications. Ensure consistency in messaging, voice, and visual style in all marketing and outreach materials.
  • Support the Vice President of Engagement, COO and the CEO in daily operations and cross-functional responsibilities, including staff support.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of event planning experience, with a proven track record of successfully managing events of varying scale and complexity.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly convey complex and detailed information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong team player with a proactive approach to embracing new challenges and adapting to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintains a high level of decorum and a positive, collaborative attitude under pressure. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Committed to delivering outstanding customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Superior attention to detail with strong organizational, time management, and planning capabilities.
  • Willingness and availability to work outside regular business hours and travel as needed to support events.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook), Canva, and the ability to quickly learn and navigate proprietary CRM systems and event management tools.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently, managing changing priorities, and meeting tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Solid understanding of event-related expenses, including venue rentals, food & beverage, audiovisual, and vendor pricing — with the ability to effectively negotiate favorable terms.

Bi-Yearly review with Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Engagement

 

Compensation:

Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is also eligible for an incentive structure tied to individual, team, and organizational performance metrics.

Reports to: Director of Business Recruitment

 

Interfaces with: Economic development and commercial development stakeholders across the Charlotte Region and North and South Carolina, decision makers and site consultants evaluating region for investment, Economic Development Advisory Council, CLT Alliance investors and prospective investors, CLT Alliance direct and indirect team members

 

Objective: Responsible for 1) generating new investment leads for the Charlotte Region from companies seeking to grow, expand, or relocate their business; 2) working with local and state partners, and the private sector, to secure wins for the region; 3) managing and reporting on activity, sharing economic development insights and trends with key stakeholders.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

Business recruitment

  1. Contributes to execution of lead-generation strategies, including conducting direct company outreach and leveraging third-party contractors and platforms.
  2. Plans, coordinates, and participates in outbound marketing trips and sales missions to promote Charlotte Region.

Collaboration

  1. Supports team members, clients, and local and state partners with requests for information (RFIs), site visits, and project follow-up.
  2. Works closely and cross-trains with research team and business intelligence analyst to target opportunities (e.g., by industry/sector, geography, project type) best suited for region.
  3. Leverages CLT Alliance investors and key partners as subject matter experts, influencers, and champions in building the case for investing in the Charlotte Region.

Managing activity and communication

  1. Records lead and project activity and updates in Salesforce, monitors and actively manages team activity.
  2. Works with the Director of Business Recruitment and Economic Development Associate to regularly report on pipeline, insights, trends for team members, Economic Development Advisory Council (EDAC), committees, Board leaders, and CLT Alliance investors.
  3. Prioritizes regular and transparent communication with economic development partners at local and state levels.

Handles all other duties as assigned by the Director of Business Recruitment and senior organizational leadership.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Intellectually curious, self-starter, and fast study.
  • Thrives in a dynamic team environment and is motivated when working independently.
  • Strong communicator with knack for attention to detail. Must appreciate and apply accuracy with numbers and presentations. Foreign language a plus.
  • Creates and follows process, enjoys problem-solving, and comfortable working with large data sets.
  • Comfortable with public speaking in small and large settings.
  • Occasional travel may be expected, in the Charlotte Region and North and South Carolina as well as to other events across the U.S.
  • Familiarity with economic development, site-selection process, office and industrial real estate; knowledge of the Charlotte Region, North Carolina, and South Carolina a plus.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI, Canva, GIS, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Minimum of three years of related lead-generation, sales, research, GIS, real estate, or economic development experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or studies in urban planning, economics, real estate, finance, business, public policy or related discipline.
  • Be able to perform those tasks that are essential to the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The CLT Alliance team works in-office five days a week.

 

Evaluation of Job Performance:

Regular cadence of meetings regarding performance; Bi-annual review with Director of Business Recruitment.

 

Compensation:

Salary range $65,000-$70,000 plus eligible incentive structure based on individual, team and organizational performance metrics.
