As the voice of business, the CLT Alliance has been active in advocating for business and convening diverse stakeholders throughout the region. Our recent advocacy includes our annual Washington, DC Fly-in, a reception in Raleigh, and comprehensive engagement for Bank of America Stadium upgrades.
Additionally, we have advocated for priorities in legislative sessions in North Carolina and South Carolina. In North Carolina, the CLT Alliance supported juvenile justice legislation, which became law, and bills to protect property rights and promote neighborhood well-being. In South Carolina, improved apprenticeship tax credits, job development credits, and retraining credits were all passed, as well as provisions allowing paid family leave insurance and changes to assist employers with unemployment compensation taxes. The CLT Alliance supported these bills. For an update on our Q2 advocacy efforts, please view our report here.
As legislative activity winds down for this year, the CLT Alliance is already preparing to advocate for the business community’s priorities in 2025. In the coming months, we will update our legislative agenda to accurately reflect your priorities at the local, state, and federal levels.
To get started, we want to hear from you. Please take a few minutes to answer the survey questions and offer your feedback. Our advocacy committee will review the survey results and discuss agenda updates over the summer. Following the advocacy committee’s input, a new legislative agenda will be presented to the Board for review and final approval.
This process is important as we will use your feedback to make changes to the agenda that will be shared with policymakers. Thank you for your commitment to making the Charlotte Region a dynamic place to do business.
