NASCAR races to top of Netflix

NASCAR raced to the top of the streaming world, as a newly launched Netflix sports docuseries NASCAR: Full Speed, was the No. 9 most-watched series in the United States its debut week.

The series, which premiered on Jan. 30, focuses on the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs and the 16 drivers vying for the Cup Series title. Most of the drivers profiled in the series live in the Charlotte Region.

The five-part docuseries delves into the heart of the action as postseason drama unfolds both on and off the track, capturing the intensity of the NASCAR Playoffs. Headlined by drivers such as Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Denny Hamlin, Tyler Reddick, and Bubba Wallace, the series follows the track action from each of the 10 playoff races, peeling back the layers of drivers’ personal stories, sacrifices, and winning aspirations.

Hamlin and 23XI Racing, the cup series operation Hamlin co-owns with Michael Jordan, are featured prominently in the series. Hamlin believes the series could bring new growth and popularity for the sport.

“I feel like it has been really positive for the sport and certainly, I hope we bring it to some new eyes and that is what it’s about,” Hamlin told Speed Sport news.
