Metal manufacturer to double its workforce in Cleveland County

IMC – Metals America announced plans this week to bring dozens of new jobs to Cleveland County.

The metal manufacturer is planning a major expansion at its existing site in Shelby that will double its workforce, allowing it to increase its production and operations.

Sitework is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2023 and will bring 75-80 new jobs to Cleveland County.

IMC-Metals America is a subsidiary of Prime Materials Recovery, Inc., one of the largest nonferrous and polymer merchants, processors, and fabricators in the United States.

As part of the expansion, Prime Materials Recovery, will contract with Southwire Company for a new copper rod system, allowing the company’s entry into the copper rod market.

In a separate initiative, IMC will also be increasing copper rod production capacity with the purchase and installation of a new line from Upcast OY.

“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with industry leaders like Southwire and Upcast OY with these initiatives,” Bernie Schilberg, CEO of Prime Materials Recovery, said. “We look forward to these successful projects and years of effectively serving our customers and these markets.”
