LaBar, Cockrell named to Business NC 2023 Power List

Business North Carolina’s 2023 Power List, a compilation of the state’s most influential private-sector leaders, includes Charlotte Regional Business Alliance President and CEO Janet LaBar, and Board Chair Kieth Cockrell.

Each year, the Power List spotlights the “power brokers with the stroke to make things happen at their enterprises and in their communities,” Business NC Editor Dave Mildenberg wrote. “North Carolina has thousands of talented leaders, making this a small sampling of those with noteworthy power.”

The statewide list, based on nominations and research, is broken down by industry. LaBar was named among the most influential leaders in economic development; Cockrell, president of Bank of America Charlotte and head of sports sponsorships, is recognized in the finance and insurance category.

Malcomb Coley, CLT Alliance 2022 board chair, and EY Central private leader and Charlotte managing partner, earned accolades in the professional services category.

“The nation’s ninth-most populous state, and among the most economically dynamic, relies on great leadership to excel,” Mildenberg wrote. “Having among the nation’s most favorable business climates and fastest population growth rates doesn’t just happen. With the benefits of power comes great responsibility, of course.”
