Travelers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) can now fly nonstop to Madrid, Spain, year-round. American Airlines announced this week it is expanding service from CLT to Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) from seasonal to year-round.

Previously offered as a summer seasonal destination, service to Madrid will now be available to customers year-round starting this year. The expansion of MAD service is part of American’s robust transatlantic schedule from Charlotte, which includes year-round service to London-Heathrow, Frankfurt, Munich, and seasonal service to Paris and Dublin.

Additionally, American is extending service to Dublin in 2024 – starting seasonal service two months earlier than in 2023. Earlier this year, American announced increased service to London by adding a third daily flight from CLT to LHR through the winter.

Year-round service between CLT and MAD will operate daily on a Boeing 777 aircraft, offering customers a world-class flight experience complete with Flagship® Business and Premium Economy cabins, as well as state-of-the-art interiors, high-speed Wi-Fi and hundreds of movies and TV shows on-demand at every seat.

Charlotte is one of the most important global markets for American Airlines. Approximately 13,000 team members live in the Charlotte Region and support American’s operations at CLT Airport, serving 42 million customers from the airline’s second-largest hub at CLT Airport.
