Financial Independence Group expands with $22M Cornelius headquarters

Financial Independence Group (FIG), a leading financial services conglomerate and a staple of the Cornelius community since 1998, will build a new corporate campus in Cornelius with a $22.3 million investment, adding 20 new jobs.

“As one of the town’s largest and fastest growing employers, we are thrilled to have Financial Independence Group’s presence remain strong with its new headquarters site on Westmoreland Road,” Cornelius Mayor Woody Washam said.

FIG has purchased a 5-acre site located at 8715 Westmoreland Road with plans to construct an 80,000 square-foot office building. The site will be home to a corporate campus for FIG along with three of its affiliate companies: Alphastar Capital Management, Barnabas Capital, and Independent Property and Casualty Group.

“Financial Independence Group has made a significant impact in our community,” Lake Norman Economic Development Executive Director Ryan McDaniels said. “From the Cain Arts Center donation, to having an internal impact fund, we are thankful for their continued contribution and loyalty to our community.”

Construction is set to begin late 2022 or early 2023 and scheduled to be complete by November 2023.
