CLT Alliance Staff

The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance announced today that Robert McCutcheon will join the organization as president and CEO effective March 17. McCutcheon will succeed Andrea Smith, who has served as interim president and CEO of the organization since May of 2024. Smith will ensure a smooth transition with McCutcheon through the end of April and then remain engaged as a strategic advisor working on key priorities for the CLT Alliance and the CLT Alliance Foundation.

McCutcheon brings an impressive depth of leadership experience spanning more than 35 years in executive positions across multiple industries, from Fortune 500 corporations to mid- and small-sized enterprises.

McCutcheon previously served as president and CEO of Husqvarna North America in Charlotte, where he transformed the company’s leadership position in residential and commercial outdoor power equipment and drove record profits. Formerly, McCutcheon served as president and managing director for Britax Child Safety in Fort Mill, leading the Americas division.

“Robert is a proven leader who will continue to propel the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance forward,” Smith said. “He is purpose-driven and brings a commitment to fostering growth, building consensus, and developing high-performing teams. I am confident that Robert will steer this organization and our region toward even greater success.”

McCutcheon has amassed more than two decades of experience in the consumer-packaged goods sector. As president at Conagra Brands, he oversaw a portfolio worth more than $3 billion, managing well-known national brands and leading significant growth in sales and profits. His experience also includes leadership roles at Walmart, The Gillette Company, and as a founder/owner of his own business.

“As I step into this role at the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, I am eager to continue the momentum, meeting with leaders across our region, and collaborating with partners to ensure a more prosperous future for us all,” McCutcheon said.

McCutcheon holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Arizona State University. He lives in Charlotte with his wife, Patricia, and is the proud father of four children.

“Robert is the right leader for the next phase of growth at the CLT Alliance,” David Longo, CLT Alliance board chair, said. “We are well positioned with the work we did throughout 2024 to continue to capitalize on the momentum. I am excited to have Robert’s experience on our team and look forward to working together with him, and all of you, as we move forward.”

The search for McCutcheon was led by Thadd Jones, CEO and founder of Nexus Search Partners, a Charlotte-based executive search firm recognized for its purpose driven, high-touch approach, connecting organizations with high impact executive talent.
