Italian packaging innovator establishes US operations in Pineville

AXTRA, an international leader in packaging and bottling technology, is taking a significant step into the U.S. market with the start of its operations in Pineville this month, an announcement that is expected to bring 20 new jobs to the region.

The Italian company specializes in designing, manufacturing, installing, and maintaining state-of-the-art machinery. A major differentiator for AXTRA is its rapid technical support, ensuring reduced response times and enhanced operational efficiency for its customers. AXTRA’s new showroom will act as a pivotal hub for American companies in the foods, beverages, and chemicals sectors. This direct customer assistance, combined with the opportunity to see AXTRA’s cutting-edge technologies in action at the showroom, will help more companies fully leverage the potential of these advanced solutions.

“This expansion marks a pivotal step in AXTRA’s journey,” Davide Nolli, CEO of AXTRA, said.  “Our Pineville location enhances our ability to serve existing customers while opening doors to new business relationships. We aim to complement our Italian facility with a responsive American counterpart, combining the excellence of Made in Italy products and technology with a highly qualified local presence.”

The Select CLT team at the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance began working with Axtra in March, assisting them in their site search and connecting them with key community partners that would assist in their transition to the Charlotte Region. Throughout the process, the Select CLT team, with support from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, assisted the company as they visited sites and evaluated the regional market.

Home to 60 Italian companies, the Charlotte Region emerged as the strategic epicenter for AXTRA’s U.S. operations. Its central location enables the company to efficiently develop sales and after-sales services, ensuring responsive, high-quality support for customers. The region’s partnerships with local universities, ability to foster innovation and promote future talent, and established industry network made it a standout in the site selection process.

“We are so excited that Axtra has chosen the Charlotte Region as their first U.S. footprint,” Kylie Barnes, CLT Alliance economic development specialist, said. “We have such a strong FDI presence here and it’s great to see international companies continue to find a home here with the right support system and community partners that want to see them succeed. We are certain they will find success here in the United States and in the Charlotte Region.”
