A rainy start to the week didn’t slow progress for the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance team. We hosted public and private partners during the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club, deepening relationships to spark solutions and drive progress across the Charlotte Region.
During four active business days, the CLT Alliance team collaborated with business leaders across the Carolinas.
Site selectors and economic development partners joined our business recruitment team in the Executive Suite at the 18th hole on Thursday. The site consultants had the chance to connect with local economic development practitioners and see some of the Charlotte Region’s assets that help make us a leading destination for businesses and talent.

On Friday, we hosted the current and incoming Mecklenburg County managers Dena Diorio and Mike Bryant, as well as Mayor Pro Tem Dante Anderson for a day centered around transportation and infrastructure.
The CLT Alliance is working to advance transportation legislation in North Carolina. Bills have been filed in the Senate and House to allow for a 1% sales tax referendum to go before voters in Mecklenburg County. The legislation would also establish an authority that would manage the majority of the new revenue to coordinate the enhancement of rail and bus service.
The CLT Alliance Foundation convened small business leaders and entrepreneurs on Saturday to encourage relationships and build social capital. Among the guests were current and former Scale Up CLT participants, who joined us in the Executive Suite.

To close out the week, we hosted some of our biggest investors as well as CLT Alliance board members.
The week highlighted the importance of partnership and how those connections can be forged at events like the PGA Championship. The championship itself is a massive driver of tourism spending. On Friday, North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein referred to the 2017 PGA Championship, which the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority estimated brought in $100 million for the local economy. Stein said this year’s tournament was also expected to bring in that amount.
The CRVA also estimates the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow garnered $131.5 million in total economic impact for the region.
