The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance is proud to be recognized with the Mac Conway Award for Excellence in Economic Development by Site Selection Magazine.

Named in honor of Site Selection founding publisher H. McKinley “Mac” Conway, Mac Conway Awards are given to the top 20 regional U.S. economic development groups based on an index of corporate job creation and facility-related capital investment data calculated both cumulatively and per capita as well as the findings from external sources at Milken Institute and Heartland Forward.

“The Charlotte Region’s secret sauce lies in the power of its partnerships,” the CLT Alliance said. “Every one of the projects is the story of collaboration and collective success.”

2024 stood out for a surge in advanced manufacturing, including such subsectors as plastics and polymers, metals and fabrication, telecom, energy storage, and packaging.

“These projects are a testament to the region’s workforce, infrastructure, and business-friendly environment, which continue to attract high-impact investments from around the globe,” the CLT Alliance said.

The region’s recent significant projects include Odyssey Logistics, Detrapel, Groninger USA, RXO, and Digital Realty Trust.

As for other rankings in Site Selection Magazine’s May 2025 issue, North Carolina sits at No. 3 in the Prosperity Cup rankings. The Prosperity Cup is awarded to the most competitive state based on an index of 10 criteria, including project, capex, and job creation data from Site Selection and data from the Tax Foundation and ACT.
