Another Amazon site is coming to Kannapolis.

In a post on its website Thursday, the City of Kannapolis said Amazon has plans to open a same-day delivery facility near its distribution center. The new facility will be in the 85 Exchange Industrial Park on Shumard Street, which is at the intersection of Kannapolis Parkway and Highway 73.

The 200,000-square-foot facility will employ 100 people and will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new location will be a hybrid fulfillment and delivery station that can deliver a customer’s order within five hours.

“We are pleased that Amazon has chosen to open a second location in Kannapolis and creating 100 new jobs in Kannapolis,” Kannapolis Mayor Darrell Hinnant said in a statement. “Their growing presence in our City is another sign that we are a top location for corporations in the United States. Over the last decade we have worked to create an environment where businesses of all sizes can create their own momentum for success. We look forward to our continued positive relationship with Amazon.”

Trinity Capital Advisors is the developer for the 85 Exchange Industrial Park. In a statement, a representative said the company plans to add another 1 million square feet to the business park.

“Trinity Capital Advisors is excited to be part of the dynamic Kannapolis community,” said Jordan Quinn, Partner, Industrial. “With Amazon as a leading tenant, we are committed to bringing more investment and jobs to this growing corridor, as evidenced by our plans to provide an additional 1,000,000 square feet at this location.”
