Up close with the YPs: Getting to know Abbey Rampy

Hey everybody, Abbey Rampy here. I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to share a bit of my story, magic, and hopes for the future of Charlotte and the region, as a whole. A bit of context before we dive into the meat and potatoes of it all. I am an Indiana native and a Purdue Boilermaker, literally and at heart. Given the climate of everything, my role recently brought me to Charlotte. I couldn’t be happier to be here and a part of this amazing community – Thank you for welcoming me with open arms!

By trade, I am an interior designer with a background in architecture studies. In my new role as a strategist at Gensler, I leverage my design background and exercise both sides of my brain. Our Southeast Consulting team focuses on helping organizations and communities define the relationship between their business/community, their environment, and the people who use it. We create and build environments and experiences that allow people, businesses, and communities to thrive. How? We combine our expertise in design and project management with a combination of strategic tools like interactive workshops, surveys, and space studies, amongst many others – we turn findings into actionable solutions.

I am a passionate people person who is driven by exploring new possibilities and challenging the status quo. I specialize in breathing life into big ideas through collaboration and co-creation, but always with curiosity and empathy at the forefront. My leadership hero is Ted Lasso [This is not a paid ad]. I love all things related to mac and cheese and I am a 2wing3 on the Enneagram. My favorite place to find inspiration is in coffee shops, even though my drink consists of more creamer than coffee.

The YP Board is an opportunity to not only collaborate and innovate with like-minded leaders and change agents but also a direct link to all the amazing things Charlotte has to offer: community engagement, advocacy and legislation, and regional programs. The board, to me, is where passion and community meet. With the launch of our first YP program, I have seen the impact firsthand – connecting young professionals with the opportunity only breeds results. It is an honor and privilege to work alongside and learn from these rock stars – I cannot wait to see what the next couple of years hold for us as a collective!
