The Bowl at Ballantyne, region’s newest dining, retail, entertainment district, comes to life

Have you been to Ballantyne lately? The energy, connectivity and sense of community are palpable as The Bowl at Ballantyne, the region’s newest dining, retail and entertainment district, has come to life.

Northwood, a vertically integrated real estate company, partnered with renowned experts such as LandDesign, Sasaki, 505Design at Cooper Carry and Design Resource Group on Ballantyne Reimagined, a vision to evolve the 535-acre Ballantyne® campus into a great destination for enjoying life in a high-quality urban community.

What once was a popular regional public golf course has been transformed into a thoughtfully designed, vibrant, mixed-used center. Taking placemaking to the next level, The Bowl establishes a walkable attraction with something for everyone located in the heart of the Carolinas.

“Ballantyne is setting a new standard for ‘place’ while elevating quality of life,” said John Barton, president of Northwood Office.

Enjoy world-class food, urban-style apartments, live music, connections to nature, memorable events and more at The Bowl.

The Right Mix of Tenants

Northwood has carefully curated a lineup of tenants that resonates with what the community wants.

The newest tenant, Honeysuckle Gelato, offering a unique, delicious, and Southern take on gelato, will start serving up scoops, pints, gelato sandwiches, & milkshakes on June 28.

Flower Child, a health-focused eatery that delights with its fresh, wholesome menu, opened on May 21. Bringing a taste of Italy to Ballantyne with its handcrafted pizzas, pasta and seasonal dishes, North Italia opened on May 29. The Bowl’s anchor tenant, The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, opened on June 1, serving up a variety of craft beers and hearty pub fare and complete with a 1-acre biergarten.

Bossy Beulah’s, Harriet’s Hamburgers, Rooster’s Wood-Fired Kitchen, and new-to-market concepts Postino WineCafe and Fly Kid Fly Coffee will open this summer.

Visitors can also enjoy Stream Park, a six-acre park designed for play of all ages, and the nearby greenway extension, which recently became a part of the Carolina Thread Trail.

Luxury Living

Oro Ballantyne, a new 26-story apartment community with 356 units, hospitality-driven amenities and highly personalized services, will be the tallest residential tower in South Charlotte with ‘front door’ access to The Bowl. Oro will feature modern classic accents, statement lighting, elevated lounging and grand gathering experiences. With a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments, townhomes, and penthouses, Oro offers luxury living with one-of-a-kind elements, experiential features and picturesque views overlooking The Bowl. Pre-leasing will begin later this summer.

Amplifying the Entertainment Scene

The Amp Ballantyne continues to provide a convenient entertainment spot for the region. The venue kicked off the season with JJ Grey & Mofro in April and is hosting the Live at The Amp monthly concert series on Thursdays through October. Fall concerts include Turnpike Troubadours on Saturday, September 14, Ben Rector with Rayland Baxter on Friday, October 4, and Trampled by Turtles with Houndmouth on Saturday, October 5. A Thriving Community Destination

“We’re excited for all to experience how Ballantyne is evolving,” Christina Thigpen, senior vice president of marketing & communications at Northwood, said. “Connectivity, amenitization, and a strong sense of community are vital components to establishing a true sense of place, and The Bowl delivers on all fronts.”
