Charlotte, CLT Alliance partner to present leadership program

UNC Charlotte

UNC Charlotte faculty researchers offered their expertise in areas of leadership as part of a daylong program for participants in the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance’s Emerging Business Leaders program.

Themed “Coming Together at Work,” the virtual sessions, presented on Friday, Feb. 4, focused on three key pillars of leadership that when applied together will help leaders:

  • Do the right thing when faced with ethical and moral dilemmas.
  • Understand how leaders think, feel and act when faced with a crisis.
  • Reduce inequalities in the workplace.

Leading the sessions were:

  • George Banks, chair of the Belk College of Business’ Department of Management and an associate professor. Banks’ session pulled from his research on ethical leadership.
  • Janaki Gooty, director of the Charlotte MBA program, and a Belk College associate professor. Gooty’s session focused on her research on leading through crisis.
  • Jill Yavorsky, assistant professor in the sociology department and Organizational Science program. Yavorsky’s session focused on her research on building an equitable post-pandemic recovery.

The sessions were facilitated by UNC Charlotte’s Executive Education, which has access to more than 1,000 UNC Charlotte faculty members to provide interdisciplinary solutions to the Greater Charlotte region’s development needs.

The daylong program is part of an ongoing partnership between the Belk College of Business Graduate Programs, the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association and the CLT Alliance.

EBL is a seven-month talent development program for high potential professionals in the Charlotte Region. This year’s class includes four Belk College alumni.
