The CLT Alliance Leadership Retreat gets underway in Greenville

The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance’s annual two-day Leadership Retreat kicked off on Thursday in Greenville, South Carolina, with 130 assembled leaders in the business, government, and education spaces who are experts in their respective fields. Over the course of the retreat, the executive experience will center on renewing a commitment to leadership for the Charlotte Region and the CLT Alliance’s value proposition to grow the economy, advocate for business, and convene diverse stakeholders.

As the CLT Alliance looks to build an even brighter future for the businesses and people who call the Charlotte Region home, thought-provoking conversations and panel discussions will aim to help transform our region into a place that strengthens, endures, and offers opportunity for all.

“When you think about a retreat, it’s important to reflect on where we’ve been, where we’re going and all of the dynamic pressures that we’re facing,” CLT Alliance President and CEO Janet LaBar said. “There’s certainly great things that we’re celebrating.”

Thursday’s agenda began with reflection on the importance of community leadership and the shared opportunities to help the people and businesses across the region advance and thrive.

Mayors of Greenville and Charlotte then sat down for a conversation highlighting the importance of a people-centered approach to elevating economic competitiveness. Knox H. White and Vi Lyles discussed the ways they are attracting and retaining people through initiatives and investments that support affording housing, infrastructure and redevelopment, quality of life, placemaking, and economic development.

Over the course of the two-day planning meeting, experts will drive conversations on creative housing solutions to keep the region competitive, site selectors and corporate decision makers will share insight on how they choose where to relocate and expand, business management consultants will underscore the importance of data-driven decisions, and organization leadership will close out the retreat and shepherd the future vision.
