Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation was one of 60 organizations across the country awarded a U.S. Department of Commerce “Build to Scale” grant.
The $50,000 EDA grant will support a community-needs audit and assessment that will map Rock Hill’s technology ecosystem. The Rock Hill Technology Ecosystem Mapping project will provide the Rock Hill EDC and its partners with a map of existing technology-based businesses and a strategic plan to attract, retain, and grow the local technology sector.
The “Build to Scale” program, administered annually by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), aims to accelerate technology entrepreneurship by increasing inclusive access to entrepreneurial support and startup capital. These EDA investments total $53 million and will support innovation industries, such as agriculture technology (agtech), blue economy, bioscience, advanced manufacturing, and health technology, among others.
The 2023 awardees – which include nonprofits, universities, government agencies, and other entrepreneurship-focused organizations – will leverage an additional $55 million in matching funds from an array of private and public sector sources.
This is the 10th cohort for this program.
