Berl’s Commercial Supply groundbreaking celebrates new HQ and warehouse in Mooresville

Berl’s Commercial Supply celebrated a major expansion with a groundbreaking ceremony this week. The groundbreaking marked the beginning of construction of the company’s new headquarters and warehouse.

“Iredell County in general, and Mooresville in particular, is the place we want to be,” Chris Berl, president of Berl’s Commercial Supply said.  “We have experienced tremendous growth since we moved to Iredell, and this new location primes us for continued growth in the future.”

The company previously moved from Mr. Berl’s Garage in Davidson, to one, then two, then three, small warehouses in Huntersville. Berl’s moved to the current, 20,000 sq ft location on Oakpark Drive in Mooresville in 2018.

Since that time, the company continued to grow and outgrow its footprint.  The new expansion into the Thunder Road location represents another jump in capacity, this time to a total footprint of 71,500 square feet.

“I can’t wait to move to the new location!” Jose Lopez, warehouse manager at Berl’s Commercial Supply said.  “It’s going to have everything that we need to grow, and then some.”

The warehouse is being constructed by Empire Building Group, which has built several other industrial buildings in the area.  Engineering work is being done by Darden Engineering Services PLLC.

“We’re excited to see another successful small business, with international connections, continue to expand and grow in the Town of Mooresville,” Jenn Bosser, president & CEO of Iredell County Economic Development Corporation said.

Berl’s was founded in 2008, as a distributor of restroom hand dryers, by industry veteran, Christopher Berl.  Initially known as Restroom Direct, the company quickly expanded from Dyson, World Dryer, and Excel Dryer hand dryers to sell other commercial restroom accessories by major manufacturers such as ASI, Bobrick, Bradley, Suitmate and Zurn plumbing products. Today, Berl’s is also one of the top distributors of Elkay drinking fountains and bottle filling stations in the United States.

Berl’s continued to grow throughout Covid with the expansion of its ArmPull™ and FootPull™ line of door hardware that allows users to open doors without having to touch them with their hands.  In addition to the United States, the company also sells the same and similar products throughout Europe.
