STAND UP, BE HEARD, and BE COUNTED

There’s only a little more than a month left for everyone in Mecklenburg County to be counted for the 2020 Census.  In working with the county and community partners to get everyone counted in Mecklenburg, I would like to share some statistics on what we risk losing if we don’t fill out the Census questionnaire:  According to NC Policy Watch, in North Carolina, we still need 4 million people to be counted;  that’s $7.4 billion of federal funding that’s at risk per year for our state.  A 3% undercount of NC children could represent a loss of $300 million over the next 10 years.  These are significant losses to our state and county!

We are working with local community organizations and leaders to encourage people to take the Census. Go to my2020census.gov and complete the census today or call to complete it at 844.330.2020 (English) or 844.468.2020 (Spanish). Anything you can do to educate others about the importance and impacts of the census is greatly appreciated. If you’ve taken the census, THANK YOU! Now, will you help us spread the word?

Census Bureau enumerators began door-to-door operations for those who have not completed the Census on August 11th and will continue through September  30th.  To avoid enumerators from coming to your door while we are currently experiencing the circumstances of a pandemic, please go to my2020census.gov and complete the census today or call to complete it at 844.330.2020 (English) or 844.468.2020 (Spanish). Can we count on you?
