Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 1, 2019) – WFAE has added two journalists to its growing newsroom. Jodie Valade and Jesse Steinmetz joined WFAE last month. In their new positions, they will help expand the depth and reach of WFAE’s journalism.

“The hiring of these talented journalists directly impacts two very important priorities for us: the expansion of our digital offerings and our flagship show ‘Charlotte Talks,’ ” said Ju-Don Marshall, WFAE’s chief content officer. “These additions are critical to increasing the audience and community engagement in both areas.”

In her role as digital news and engagement editor, Valade will focus on content creation and distribution across different platforms and reader engagement. Most recently, she was a digital content producer for NASCAR.com and freelance writer. Valade is an award-winning reporter who has worked at The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, The Dallas Morning News and The Kansas City Star.

Steinmetz joins the producers of “Charlotte Talks” as an assistant producer. He’ll contribute to the production and execution of the daily talk show, special events and production of online content. Before coming to WFAE, Steinmetz completed multiple talk show internships at WNPR in Hartford, Connecticut.
