Matt serves as the Director of Business Development for Clancy & Theys Construction. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1993, Matt moved to Charlotte to start his career. He honed his client development skills by serving as a professional wardrobe consultant for seven years with Tom James Clothiers, a direct to consumer, manufacturer and retailer of premium men’s and women’s attire. He made an amazing leap in his career by entering the construction industry working with Cogun, a national design-build firm that specialized in not-for-profit faith based construction. While at Cogun, he lead clients through the complexities of real estate development providing project life-cycle experience and helping clients avoid pitfalls that waste both time and money. He consulted with clients in the areas of real estate acquisition/disposition, entitlements, master planning, building design, funding procurement, pre-construction costing and construction. Matt also served as the Director of Business Development for Scott-Long Construction helping to grow the company’s repeat clientele and revenues by 135% over his tenure. His focus at Clancy & Theys Construction is to build legacy relationships and grow the firm’s commercial construction market share in the Charlotte region.
