More than 250 people packed Monday’s Quarterly Investor Meeting at Bank of America Stadium. Held in the Panther’s Den, the event showcased an impressive lineup of speakers including Panther’s President Tom Glick, Cam Newton, the Alliance’s new CEO Janet LaBar and NC House Speaker Tim Moore. Panther’s owner David Tepper also attended but didn’t speak from the stage.

Newton discussed his “Un1ted as 1” initiative and his foundation - Every 1 Matters – which is working to make a difference in local children’s lives through strategic programs, events and partnerships. Click below to watch his conversation with CMS Foundation Executive Director Sonja Gantt.

For the Alliance’s new CEO and President Janet LaBar, the April 8 meeting offered the first opportunity to formally be introduced to the media and business community. LaBar joined the Charlotte Business Journal’s Erik Spanberg for a fireside chat where she shared her vision for economic development in the region. Meantime, NC House Speaker Tim Moore took advantage of the standing room only crowd to outline top issues facing leaders in Raleigh.

The event wrapped up with a special recognition of members of the ad hoc committee of local business leaders who led the way during the merger between the Charlotte Chamber and Charlotte Regional Partnership. They included: Kendall Alley, Wes Beckner, Howard Bissell III, Malcomb Coley, Jesse Cureton, Ned Curran, Chris Kouri, Carol Lovin, Andrea Smith, Judy Wishnek and Jennifer Weber. Ernie Reigel, who has served as Alliance Interim CEO, was also thanked for his leadership during the transition period.
