Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio Named 2020 Charlotte BusinessWoman of the year
The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance joins Queens University and the Charlotte business community in congratulating Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio on being named the 2020 Charlotte BusinessWoman of the Year.
Diorio joined Mecklenburg County in 2007 as director of the Department of Financial Services. In 2013, she was promoted to assistant county manager for fiscal control, policies and standards compliance, becoming Mecklenburg County’s first female manager. In her role of County Manager, Diorio executes the policy decisions of the Board of County Commissioners and leading the County organization by overseeing the administration of County departments. She also advises the Board on operational and financial matters, services and other issues, and submits an annual operating and capital budget for the Board’s consideration.
Diorio has been a trusted partner and supporter of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, serving on our 2019 Executive Committee as the Mecklenburg County representative and a member of our Advocacy Committee. On behalf of the CLT Alliance, we offer our utmost congratulations to Dena on this honor.
The annual Charlotte BusinessWoman of the Year event recognizes a leading female executive who has made significant, sustained contributions to the business community. Many CLT Alliance investors, Executive Committee leaders, and Board of Trustees members have been honored with the prestigious title including, the last four recipients of Peggy Brookhouse of LGA (2019), Carol Lovin of Atrium Health (2018), Theresa Drew of Deloitte (2017) and Andrea Smith of Bank of America (2016), among many others.
