Stay at Home Order: Essential Business Allowed
Mecklenburg became the first of the Charlotte Region's 15 counties to issue a Stay at Home proclamation. The move comes a day after North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper ordered public schools across the state to remain closed until May 15. Also Monday, the CLT Alliance urged elected officials in a letter to:
- Implement common standards for shelter-in-place orders that designate a wide array of businesses to stay open
- Enhance and explore the creation of programs designed to aid small and micro businesses
- Fast-track any grants, zero or low-interest loan programs to get the necessary capital in the hands of businesses.
See the full letter here.
Mecklenburg County's Stay at Home Proclamation begins at 8 a.m. Thursday and will remain in effect for three weeks. To find out which businesses are impacted, read the entire proclamation.
