Healthy Charlotte Award Winners 2017
The 2017 Carolinas HealthCare System Healthy Charlotte Award recognizes innovative practices and behaviors that encourage, support and celebrate healthy habits and behavioral changes. We believe the experiences shared and benefits realized through promoting healthy lifestyles by Charlotte area businesses have the power to inspire other area businesses to do the same.
Congratulations to Messer Construction Company for being our fourth annual Carolinas HealthCare System Healthy Charlotte recipient.
Messer Construction focused on key areas to make an impact to their employees’ health as well as the community. Some of their initiatives include:
- Providing a program where fruit is delivered weekly to the office and available at an affordable price.
- Providing paid time for the employees to attend lunch and learn programs that focus on health and wellness.
- Offering a $300 incentive program for employees to have annual physicals, an insurance rate discount for non-tobacco use, programs to provide council to quit smoking, access to mental health and financial wellness council.
- Hosting annual conferences that focus on women’s health.
The 2017 Novant Health Healthy Charlotte Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has helped spotlight the focus areas endorsed by Healthy Charlotte: fostering healthier healthy nutrition, increasing physical activity among employees and preventing tobacco use.
Congratulations to Linda Lemmons at Northwood for being selected as the 2017 Novant Health Healthy Charlotte Volunteer of the Year.
The Novant Health Healthy Charlotte Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes a member of the Council who goes above and beyond in time, energy and leadership to help achieve the goals of the council.
Linda joined Healthy Charlotte at inception and has served as a leader on the Executive Team and as the operations manager for the collaboration committee. Linda has been a driving force both within her workplace by enabling co-workers to shine and within the community by empowering businesses and volunteers with the knowledge of these new easy-to-use health resources. One measure of Linda’s success is that she strengthens relationships with everyone with whom she comes into contact while building the Healthy Charlotte brand. Her on-time delivery and follow up have resulted in a growing involvement of business volunteers who support and stick with the evolving Healthy Charlotte mission. Thank you for all you do Linda, we are so fortunate to have you on our team!
