Spotlight On: Thompson Child & Family Focus | Helping 1,000 children in need this holiday season

Thompson

More than 11,000 youth in NC are in need of a foster home. More than 4,000 youth in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are experiencing homelessness right now. The holidays are tough for kids experiencing events like these. Thompson Child & Family Focus can make it better for 1,000 youth with your help.

Thompson is a human services non-profit with the purpose to strengthen children, families, and communities. People serving people is the core of everything we do. We’re educating youth at the child development center, caring for the youth at our residential campus, and helping rebuild families broken apart by trauma. Most of the people we serve live below the poverty line.

We serve children and families with proven practices in mental health, family stability, and early childhood services.  Our teams engage with clients to escape generational cycles of trauma and poverty. We meet people where they are and individualize their care to their goals. We hold ourselves accountable for providing high quality services to our clients.

“Many of the kids we care for aren’t celebrating the holidays with their loved ones. Your treasure or time can make all the difference. Let’s work together as a community to ensure a joyful holiday season for our youth,” stated Thompson Chief Development Officer Justin Ellis.
Here’s how CLT Alliance partners and investors can positively impact our community this holiday season:

  • $150 will provide a meaningful holiday experience for one Thompson family. Our goal is to support 1,000 families throughout the Charlotte Region this season.
  • Encourage your workplace to consider giving to Thompson to support school kids who are struggling. One in 10 in NC are diagnosed with anxiety or depression. One in 5 in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools have considered suicide this year.
  • Decipher if your employer matches employee giving. It may be as simple as completing a form to double your impact.

In-kind donations are appreciated and needed. Wish lists for client needs are available here.
